WINTER ’21 INVITATIONAL GAMES START THIS WEEK

Dear Parents and Athletes,

Our Winter ’21 Invitational games are beginning this week. This means that we will need SIX adults per game to be able to have two score bench volunteers and two statistics volunteers for each team. We will match you with experienced parents if you are volunteering for the first time. There is a first time for everyone!

SCOREBENCH
We have simplified the score sheet for our Invitational so it is very simple for parents and we are not recording scores on a computer/Ipad. One adult will be pressing buttons on the score board and the other will be writing down scores and fouls on the paper score sheet.

STATISTICS
We have simplified the gathering of statistics so that we can have one adult ‘calling’ the stats and the other writing them down. We will be collecting the following data.

Offensive Rebounds
Defensive Rebounds
Free Throws Attempted
Free Throws Made
Steals
Blocks
Assists (when a player passes to an open player on their team who takes the shot. The shot does not need to go in)
Charges
Turn Overs

The sheet provided to parents for both of these roles will be very self explanatory. I urge parents to take their turn in volunteering for the program and to be diligent in your efforts when you are on duty for the day. The quality of the data we gather in scores and statistics is only of value to our athletes if it is accurate.
